Extreme cold, 28 nations, a Sky News reporter and the rainforest – find out what they have in common

Join us for a rare opportunity to find out what it’s like to be a news reporter travelling through the extreme conditions of Antarctica.

Thursday 20th June 2013 from 11:00 BST (06:00 EDT)

Recently Tom Rayner, Sky News Middle East Correspondent travelled with polar explorer Robert Swan on his 10th International Antarctic Expedition.

In this session Tom joins Dr Emily Shuckburgh, British Antarctic Survey andFiona Ball, Head of Environment and Engagement at Sky to discuss how we can communicate about climate change and science in new and interesting ways. The webinar will include clips from the Sky News reports and insights from Tom into what it was like to bring stories to life from Antarctica.

This webinar will cover:

  • How technology can be used to raise awareness of climate change and enable people to engage in the debate
  • Why what is happening in Antarctica matters to the nations of the world
  • What Sky has learned about how to inspire people to take action on climate change through Sky Rainforest Rescue

The first half of the webinar will be a panel Q&A hosted by Tom Idle, editor-in-chief at 2degrees.

The second half will be your opportunity to pose questions to the participants.
